This afternoon was tough. After being so disappointed on Wednesday and Thursday coming home expecting to see a lot of work done and finding zip, today, I left work early expecting to come home to new hot water heater and all the other things on the list underway and once again, nope. Sheri had said she was to meet the hot water heater installer here at 2.

I was waiting for the bus at 1:25 when my phone rang. It was the hot water heater somebody. Whoever it was said they were calling about my hot water heater and they didn't have it so it wouldn't be installed today and then my cellphone signal went out which was, frankly, just as well. I paid for the hot water heater and the installation and the removal of my old one - two fucking weeks ago... have I seen the thing? Nope. Do I know when I will? Nope.

While I'm on the bus Sheri's on my cellphone about the hot water heater problems and the problems she's having with the handy man which is why I don't have closet shelves and a place to put anything. Oh and no, she doesn't have anyone to remove the old sofa and the old bed. Maybe, she says, she'll get her husband to come help her install the closets tomorrow. Would that be ok?

I have to admit, I did not handle that very well. A week of this shit was just more than I was prepared to deal with and she got the brunt of my frustration. When I got home she was there getting the closet installation started.

To her credit and I mean this, she got the closets totally installed by herself and did a great job with a great attitude. She still had no plan that really suited me for the sofa and the bed so I called Trashbusters (the folks who took away the other stuff) and begged. 'When could they get here??" This wonderful young woman asked if Sunday morning would be ok? YES! Please. Whew.

So things are better. I have a wonderful clock for my mantle. We have a plan for the half bath. The postcards have a future in a fun new spot. I am beat to a pulp.

Tomorrow morning I need to go out to the place where Sheri got the closet system and get some boxes and organizing things. Or at least look at them. I may need more shelves in the closet but this system she got is very very flexible and adding shelves will be easy peasy.

The Mariners are winning in the 7th. I'm going to give them my full attention. They need the win and I need the rest.

Well I think you have every right to be PO'd about all this. As far as having the old stuff removed, she should have an answer for that. It fits right in with her job doesn't it? Also, she needs some back-up people, obviously.

I know you are probably past the point where this is helpful, but have you heard of www.freecycle.org ? Every community has a list-serv where people swap stuff they don't want anymore. You list something you have to give away and where you live and people can email you for it, then the onus is on them to pick it up in a timely fashion. The idea is that not-for-profits get first dibs but anyone can take stuff. The idea is to keep stuff out of landfills.

Excellent suggestion but I'm ahead of you :). I advertised in Freecycle for two weeks. No takers. Well, actually 2 takers - neither of whom ever showed up. Last time the trashbuster guys gave one of my chairs away before it left the front of my house! And then they gave another one away when they got to the dump. Hopefully the same will happen with the couch. The bed is not worth saving.
