Carpet TV for a Dental Announcement... (Although I will say that apparently they found a flaw in their plan to shut Betty and Jake up on the terrace because the door closing only lasted about 15 minutes. I'm guessing maybe they voted that it was better to have cats and fresh air than be cat free with stale air...)

Dentist: I had two Plan B's but neither panned out. I sent both my email and one replied that she did not think she was prepared to handle my special case. I really appreciated her honesty. The other has hours and a location that just won't work for me.

So we're back with the original guy but with his new partner. I was scheduled for the 24th but I just got an email from Devon in his office saying that she was going to have to move it. She offered email or phone so I called her and I'm so glad I did.

She sounded wonderful and understanding and fun and so nice and I'm so glad. I'm set for 3:30 on Monday the 16th and I think I'm ok about it. She assured me that she would tell the new guy about my need for special handling and she said that if I had any questions at all or needed a pep talk before the appointment, to call her. I think I lucked into the right place. Really.

Now... back to SDTV

Tell them you need them to call you in a prescription for a small dose of ativan that you fill in advance and take just before you go there (should kick in when you get there) which should calm the nerves.

You then also ask for Any and All drugs they are willing to give you while you are there to relax you - including DVD watching goggles, headphones and anything else they have like sedation, happy gas or good old fashion hard core drugs :).

Good luck.

Now we know I'm not going to be just like you when I grow up. I am SO not drug-phobic. Better living through chemistry I say. I just got back from the doctor's office - I love my nurse practitioner. She listens to me, and I listen to her - she's not afraid to tell me when medicine isn't the solution to the problem and she's also not afraid to tell me when it's appropriate to use it and then isn't afraid to prescribe it.

I hurt my back a few weeks ago. It was finally getting back to normal when Mocha tried to kill me on Monday. I swear that dog is going to love me to death one day. She managed to give me whiplash and re-injure my back. Nancy, my NPR listened when I told her the Flexeril she prescribed before (muscle relaxant) did nothing much for me and is trying something else. At the same time she's calling in a 'script for Vicodin. She warned me that it's far easier to OD on tylenol then one would think because it'll shut down your liver quicker than you'd imagine and she'd rather I use vicodin for the pain as needed than take take 1500 mg of Tylenol every 4 hours.

Since 1500 mg of tylenol isn't really doing much than blunting the ache I'm for trying the vicodin while the worst of the pain is happening. Especially since I have to be on an airplain on Friday and next Monday and the following Friday.

She also wants me to try and fit in one PT if I can tomorrow for my neck but if not, absolutely when I get back. If there's a massage therapist somewhere between here, Boone NC and Chicago Il and back here she'll take that as a temporary solution - but if not, heating pads and hot baths also work in the evenings - and don't take the vicodin when I go on-site with the customer she suggested ;-).

Nah I'm all for better living through chemistry as needed. Plus lots of self pampering.

This is what I think is going to happen, (from prior experience) You will go in for the look-see, set up a program and go from there. Just with the regular pain killers and maybe more for the first cleaning. Once you go once or twice, you will be fine with it.
