Cheap cheap cheap
May. 6th, 2005 09:32 amI am spending bazillions of dollars on my condo redesign (or at least it feels that way most days) but what makes me really smile is getting a bargain for what feels like free.
I've always loved my cash back awards from Discover. I usually save 'em up until they get to be about $60 and then apply them against the bill. It's like getting a free chunk o' payment.
But, their marketing finally got to me and made me investigate other options... One was double your money with Sharper Image. So I gave it a go. I signed up for an $80 Sharper Image card - cost me $40 of my cash back bonus.
About a week later, here's my card in the mail! Today I went to the Sharper Image Outlet and bought a Big-Digit Clock with In/Outdoor Temperature. I didn't pay the $89.95 on the regular Shaper Image site. I didn't even pay $53.97 for the "Like-New/Factory Reconditioned Product". Oh no, I paid a cool $53.97 for the "Less-Than-New/Factory Reconditioned Product"!! And I've got money left on my Sharper Image Reward Card.
I went back to Discover today and spent another $20 cash back bucks on a $40 Sharper Image card - now I have my sights on the Bright as Day Daylight Spectrum Lamp with Continuous Dimmer - not for $99.95 but for $59.97.
Gimme $100 at Woolworths over $1000 at Nordstrums any day. [Of course, these days, I'd have to find airfare to the UK which is, I think, the only place that still has Woolworths!]
