Friday in the nick of time

I really needed this weekend. My attitude was beginning to show and I don't mean my sweet, sunny, kind attitude (actually, I don't own one of those anyway). I was about ready to take down some people by the time I left. I have a buddy at work and he was on vacation this week. I was surprised at how much I missed his being around. It makes such a huge difference to have someone who understands. I can just walk by my desk and mutter Twinkie Attack and he knows that either Jacklen or Elaine or Mary Anne is driving me nuts. He just smiles sympathetically and it makes all the difference in the world. He wasn't there this week and the twinkies were.

But, I got out of there at noon so that helped. And I did get a fair amount of stuff accomplished before noon. Then the apraiser came and I got that taken care of. I think he was supposed to collect $400 from me but he didn't. I'm sure I'll be paying it but it was fun not to pay it today.

Then I went to the paper store to pick up stuff I need for work. It was nice to have plenty of time to look around and see what they had and just take my time. Stopped at my favorite Asian retaurant on the way home and picked up some kung pao beef. I hadn't had any in a long time and had forgotten how wonderful it is. Plus, I have enough for a meal tomorrow.

GW the War Monger is really beginning to make me nervous. Viet Nam just wasn't long enough ago for me to forget yet.

Only you could put that icon on your LJ and make me laugh at something so scary and horrible!

We have a wastepaper basket near our depts mailbox. Many a time I have seen memos for meetings and other alleged important correspondence (Mr Big likes to use what I call PMS orange) in there, barely read, if read at all. Could save the secretaries a lot of time if they would just dump the stuff there in the first place!

But to have the luck of not receiving the memo in the first place, wow. Your lucky day.

I've found that the best "meeting decisions" that have been made are the kind where you suddenly meet on a stairwell or in the ladies room, briefly discuss, come to a mutual decision and (in the case of bathroom meetings) have clean hands to boot!

I'm a one trick pony depending on restaurant. There's another one down the street from the kung pao beef place that has really good crispy beef. The next neighborhood over from here is the International District - it is full of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Filipino and Korean restaurants. You'd think I'd expand my repretoire... Sign.
