The Seahawks are playing the Packers at 5 pm today and the neighborhood has been mayhem since noon.

I got the sweetest thing in the mail. The vet I took Travis to is West Seattle Animal Hospital. Betty's been there to get her hair cut and once wen she was sick but Travis had never been to any vet until last Wednesday. It's not like this vet had a long track record with me or with Travis. They were so sweet and understanding. But today I got a card in the mail from them. I opened it expecting a pre-printed 'sorry your cat died' message and instead found a hand written special for Travis message and signatures of everyone in the place.

What a wonderful special thing for them to do.

For Travis

Neighbor Ann just dropped by to get the instructions I typed out for her so she will know where to come get me tomorrow.

She told me that the people behind http://postcardly.com are the people who park right behind me (and thank me all the time for having such a short car which make it so much easier for them to get in and out - he's the first on this list - https://postcardly.com/content/about and I've watched that kid grow from a sprout in his mother's belly... and never knew they were postcardly)!! I had no idea. I've never had occasion to use them but now I think I'll send the vet a card with a picture of Betty and Travis! Done!!

All is set and ready. No baseball tonight but some of the new TV season starts tonight and TiVo still has way too much on it so there is plenty of junk TV to knit by.

Bake Ziti, caesar salad and garlic bread for dinner.

That's a really nice gesture by the vet clinic staff!

Awww, Susan, that card is so sweet. Our vets do something similar, but it never fails to slay me. After all, they understand that we (hopefully) choose our pets, as opposed to human doctors who deal with all kinds of rather less fortunate relationships enforced by genetics and law. Ray and I had a slew of bad luck at one point, during which we lost three cats to cancer in a ridiculously short amount of time (one was only 7 years old). I cherish the people who helped us through those times, and there's at least one vet tech who greets me, when I see her there, by hugging me.
Frankly, there are no more sensitive and sweet people on this planet, except those who provide day care for your human puppies. Lacking those, you have to look no farther than the people at vet clinics to find truly remarkable people.

These are the sort of people who should be in that profession.

That is a truly beautiful gesture on their part. What a good clinic.

No wonder traffic home was horrible, though it could be MUCH worse.

I figured it had to be a game of some sort, but Srpintz Arbigas who does the traffic reports for KPLU would not mention what, but that traffic across BOTH bridges were bad, as was I-5 into Seattle.

That's a very nice thing for a vet to do, especially for someone they've hardly dealt with. Also, I love postcardly! I'll have to try that. I love the Cards app from Apple for sending photo cards, but this looks so easy and slick.
