I did go to Costco.  I found half the stuff I wanted and wandered around a little.  My lungs are just not liking leaving the house.  I get out of the house, enjoy the tiniest of exertion and I start coughing and panting.  Not a whole lot but enough to annoy the shit out of me.  On the way home I stopped at Grocery Outlet for those things I couldn't find at Costco.

Once safely ensconced in my own house I can do what I want and breath fine with no coughing or panting.  I cleaned up the kitchen, reorganized the freezer, put away all my shopping.  No coughing no panting.

I think it's all in my head.  But I'm going to keep my head in its safe place today.  Tomorrow I will walk uptown to get some exercise and catch an early movie and test out my theory.

Tomorrow may well go better. I was curious, so I checked Seattle's air quality - today is moderate, tomorrow is good. So tomorrow will be easier on anyone with any kind of breathing issue anyway....

I used http://airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=airnow.local_city&cityid=258 which seems handy. I may have to start using that for my area, except hey look, no coverage for Wilsonville. LOL. Ah well, the metro area, yes.

Pffft. It better not be getting worse.

But if you go back to your doctor and he tries to send you back to the lung guy, ask him to recommend a different doctor. You are totally entitled to find a specialist you can work with, if you have to see them at all.

Fear of fields? of plants?

Or did you mean to type "agoraphobia", fear of open spaces? (More precisely (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agoraphobia), "anxiety disorder characterized by anxiety in situations where the sufferer perceives the environment to be difficult or embarrassing to escape".)
