What a nice day
Nov. 4th, 2012 06:15 pmMy brunch adventures today were so so. But not expensive and I made it home in time to escape the football idiots.
I spent half the day doing chores around here. Turns out I had four clocks that needed help. I always forget the microwave. The car was the most fiddly. Since I've never been able to see it before, I never bothered to change it. But now, I have figured out the trick so all is good.
Windows 8 morphed their card game programs into pretty unusable apps. But the internets told me I could copy the goods over from Windows 7 and provided me a nice little patch to make it work and all is fine now.
I downloaded and watched Bernie - and loved it. Renting from Amazon is so much easier and bullet proof than it used to be. When I looked on TiVo, it gave me 6 choices for viewing - renting or buying at prices from $4-8 for renting (HD or regular on Amazon or Xfinity) and about double that for buying. I love all the choices.
Tomorrow I have my last eye doctor checkup. I really don't need it but it will make the eye doctor happy and I don't intended to go back until Medicare kicks in.
Then the electrician is supposed to come about 11. One of my track lights needs checking. One of the bulbs kept going on and off for a few weeks. Now another one is out for good. He expects a short or some failure of the fixture. I appreciate his willingness to step up to the fix.
Last week I missed lots of swim days because of my breathing. Now my breathing is fine and I still have to miss Monday (because of the electrician) and Tuesday (to meet with my financial adviser). Bummer. BUT on Wednesday, I'm meeting a classmate from my Saturday class at a different pool for a class with a really good teacher. That should be fun. And so far, Thursday-Saturday of next week looks clear for the pool.
And like the rest of the country, I'll be so glad to see the end of these horrible election commercials. Apparently no one involved with them had a mother with the 'if you can't say something nice...' rule. But, I am very concerned about the election results. I remember thinking up to the last minute that Carter couldn't possibly lose and no one in the right mind would vote for a Hollywood actor for president of the country. I fear that while marriage equality will win easily in this half of the state, when the other half chimes in, the picture will be painted very differently. Our state also stands a chance to elect the first Republican governor in forever. While neither candidate is really governor material, at least the Democrat might not send the state down the sewer.
So, while I'm ready for it all to be over, I'm not as ready for the results.
On a brighter note, I finally remembered to get a jar of Nutella at the grocery store yesterday. I've always wanted to try it and just never have remembered to get any. Well, that's all history because, I got it, tried it and now I'm hooked. Toasted English muffin with butter and Nutella, is my new downfall.
