If/when I trade my pretend dog in for a real one

Not long ago, I asked about how much money I should squirrel away for my real dog's first year..

This is particularly helpful since it compares cats and dogs and I *know* cat expenses so I can make a fair judgement about the dog expenses as listed.

I agree, that's an interesting insight into the comparison of costs between the two. Some of the dog costs will probably scale down, or up, depending on the type and size of dog too. *shrug* Otherwise you could probably compare it to your own known costs of cats then scale the dog cost proportionally based on that chart. Would you say that their analysis of cat costs is about on target for your own costs for cats?

One thing they may have left out, although it's hard to tell if it's covered under "Misc", is poop bags for dogs. While cats have litter cost, if someone walks a dog and that dog poops then they're supposed to pick it up and trash it elsewhere.
