I got up and read the paper and had my coffee and made breakfast and ate it.

I took a shower and washed my hair and cleaned up the kitchen and started the laundry.

I took two bags of garbage down the dumpster, finished up the laundry and folded it all and put it away.

I added puzzles to the puzzle page and sent out the email to the people who want to know when new ones are added. And I ripped a library book to MP3's.

One of the staffers at 'the home' told Mom she should ditch her telephone answering machine in favor of Bell South's voice mail. It's six of one/half dozen of the other. She somehow keeps unplugging or turning off the machine so she loses her message and/or the machine does not pick up. But, when it does work, she really likes to see how many messages she has at a glance.

Voice mail would mean that she would never be able to 'see' that she has messages and she would have to remember a passcode to get any messages she does have. But, I'd be able to make sure her settings were set right from here and it wouldn't get turned off.

Plus somehow in her brain, she has Comcast woven into the mix (this might be since she used to use Comcast for internet access and now she uses Bell South). Anyway, I outlined the details and gave her the pros and cons and told her we could try it if she wanted and if she doesn't like it, we can go back to the machine. Regardless she can think about it for as long as she wants.

Buzy buzy day.

Oh and I helped the Mariners win a shut out... Whew.

I'm taking the rest of the day off.

If you got her a phone with caller ID, they usually display how many new voicemail messages there are...

There's no need for her to remember a passcode. When you are getting vm's off your own phone you just dial *98 and you're in. You can even program a button on the phone to do that for her.

Whew, I am tired just reading your post, you earned the rest of the day off.

Some good ideas there for your mom's voice mail. Hope it works out for you both.

I helped the Mariners win a shut out.

With a complete game by Aaron Sele! Amazingly, there were five complete games pitched yesterday (one by Boston's Matt Clement, with a little help from us). It's so rare these days -- I wonder when the last time there were 5 CGs in one day was.
