thin sliced potato
thin sliced onion
shredded swiss/gruyère mix (from Trader Joes)
heavy cream

Layer potato slices, onion and cheese. I used about about 4 potato slices to 1 onion slice. Top with ground pepper and a little heavy cream.

I'm baking now for about 30 mins at 400 degrees... I have no clue how this will turn out. It's a kluge of something I saw on TV and my imagination.

I made two of these. I plan to freeze the other one, unbaked. We shall see...

It's close to a potato Au Gratin as there is a version that is just potatoes, cream, salt/pepper, no cheese, this is more like the version with cheese, but made in a similar way.

Looks good,

I'd say, from your later post that 350 Degrees, baked for just over an hour is about right.

the recipe is essentially butter, flour, milk, yellow cheddar, American cheese, white cheddar, nutmeg, pepper and russet potatoes

The Au Gratin (the crumbly top) is

Butter, bread crumbs, smokey paprika

That is a recipe I spotted on the Food Network in a quick search.

What you just did does sound good though.
