My night out turned out to be interesting and fun. I made my way to the dark corner in Chinatown and joined a random group of about 5 other people - 2 women about my age and a younger couple.

The bus stops first at the convention center in the center of town and then us and then made two other stops, one in the Vietnamese section and another one in the central section of town then it hit the highway. The bus was one of those nice highway buses - tall (with lots of room for luggage), plush seats, etc. We got to the casino in no time.

I've been to casinos in Nevada and in Atlantic City but this was my first reservation casino. I expect on another Saturday night or on a weekday night, it is not as frenetic but last night, it was jammed - a giant room of slot machines crammed in (about twice as many machines per square foot than your average Las Vegas casino).

As we got off the bus (which cost $10) they gave us two coupons. One for $10 cash and one for $10 off the bill in any of the casino's restaurants. Off to the cashier to get my 10 bucks and pick up my ticket for the show.

Then through the casino to the back where the ballroom was. The giant slot machine room has a nice, non-smoking room and then a large smoking section and then the ballroom. I, honestly, appreciate the whiff of second hand smoke. But the smoking section of this ballroom was choke-ingly full of really really really stale cigarette smoke mixed with a whole bunch of new. And... not that much fun for my COPD. So I was oh so grateful to get to the ballroom lobby and find it was non-smoking.

(One (or more) of the inhalers causes me to lose my voice sometimes. Walking through that room and holding the very briefest of conversations with the cashier = no voice whatsoever for the rest of the night... happily I didn't have to talk to anyone.)

Anyway, the ballroom area was wonderful. Fun people - turns out the casino had made the concert a fundraiser for the It Gets Better project. You could make a video and they gave me a sticker and an It Gets Better chapstick. This latter is genius swag, if you ask me.

Also a note... myself included... Seattle clearly must be the worst dressed population in the country. The few who bothered to gussy up, so missed the taste mark that they looked more like Halloween than Thanksgiving. It was truly a parade of OMG, Do They Not Have A Mirror In Their House????

But soon the house lights went down and the concert started. I had a cheap seat - off to the side, a little to the back. The sides mirrored center stage with giant screens and the result felt like both women were no more than 30 feet in front of me. It was cool.

They did a couple of songs I had not heard but most of it was just like their Comedy Central show - still good and funny. They are both so cute and fun.

The show was very short. The bus leaves the casino at 11:15. The show was over at 9:30. hmmmm. I made my way back through the smoke to the front where I had seen some restaurants. They were also in the non-smoking section. The Lunch and Breakfast Diner looked the easiest. I ordered their bacon cheeseburger with fries and bottomless diet coke - $9.25. I handed her my food coupon and we were square!

The cheeseburger was totally worth what I paid for it. The fries were ok. But the diet coke was outstanding as it was cold and thirst quenching. Between my phone and my tablet, I managed to entertain myself until bus time.

The bus got there on time and the ride home was just as uneventful. They made an interim stop about 4 blocks from where I got on. I got off because I wanted to stretch my legs and it was downhill from there to home.

I had a nice walk home. As I got walked in the door, my clock chimed midnight.

I had a good time and I'd totally do it again. I did look at the upcoming schedule of shows in the ballroom and there's nothing I'm interested in but I will be keeping an eye out.

Oh! The places you'll go
