I had a lovely swim class. After class a woman who kinda looked familiar came up and introduced herself and asked about classes at other pools. Apparently she's seen me around. We had a nice chat and now I have a new friend. And she told me that my favorite teacher is back on Fridays at the far away pool. I may try to make it next Friday.

Then home to change shoes, hang up wet suit, check on the tree sweater peops and head out for the movie.

I met [livejournal.com profile] machupicchu downtown for Anna Karenina. Our expectations were low but, sure enough, what seems like many torturous hours later, we agreed, it fell short. One old (like probably older than me) guy sitting near us left in the middle grumbling 'I can't take any more of this'. I gave serious thought to joining him. But, finally we got to the last train and whew.

My plan was to hang downtown and see what was up and walk home but downtown was just too full of peops so I came on home. I had a bite to eat and then took off for Trader Joes and Petco.

[livejournal.com profile] catmomma convinced me to try this really good new (to me) cat litter instead of the clay stuff I've been using since forever. The new stuff is very light weight and I don't use nearly as much as the clay stuff but OMG does that stuff stink. I even use the scented kind and still - whew. So I wanted to see if Petco had any remedy. I bought something but I'm not hopeful. I really don't want to go back to the other but geesh something's gotta get fixed. Moving or changing the kind of actual litter box is not an option.

Home now to stay.

All the trees have beautiful sweaters on them now. It does look so cool. It's too dark to get a good Done pic now... maybe tomorrow.

I always liked this stuff called "Clump 'n Flush". It was corn-cob based and you could just scoop the stuff directly into the toilet and flush it down. Availability was frequently spotty at the local pet stores here, but it was worth hunting down, to me, so one didn't have to bag & toss.

Have you tried adding baking soda to the litter?

I can't use the scented litter so I stick to the "multicat" version. We clean the boxes daily but man if I let it slide for a few days they seriously reek.

Foster's box gets stinky but he also does not bury his doings, ever. I have not had too much trouble with the smell but I know it can get bad. I used another corn litter before this and my house constantly smelled like a wet barn. Then I switched to World's Best and have not had trouble. You could try mixing in maybe 25% of the old school clumping litter.

Was your new friend Nancy?

She goes to a lot of Seattle swim classes, too. She has really long silver hair. She was my 8th grade math teacher.

If your new friend isn't Nancy, maybe you can figure out who Nancy is and you will have another swim friend.
