Changing plans

My plans for this morning got postponed last night so I woke up this morning with nothing on the schedule. I seriously making my own breakfast but after some coffee, I realized I'm too hungry for my own cooking. I looked at a couple of restaurants about a half mile away. I hadn't been to either in eons and both, it turns out, are now serving Croque Madame! This is one of my all time favorite brunch dishes, and both of these places are a nice walk to and from. I now have plans.

I did my Christmas decorating last night. I usually don't do so much but I felt pretty festive this year!

Last night I looked something up on Wikipedia which I do frequently but this time there was a gaudy - as in cannot-be-ignored - message asking for donations. The most effective schpeal requested everyone who saw the message to give them the cost of a latte. I gave them two lattes. Honestly, I never thought about Wikipedia's finances. If they NPR me*, I'll be pissed but otherwise, I'm happy to help.

*If you give 1 penny to any NPR station anywhere, you will be hounded on the phone and in the mail worse than any stalker. Plus, whether you give or not, you are assaulted on the air twice a year with pledge drives and fairly constantly with commercials begging for money and never in an interesting, creative or, in my case, effective way.

Chef Anita comes this week and yeah! My own cooking is getting pretty boring. Having her come once a month is working nicely. I can work it into the budget and having her delicious food is almost more joyful when I have so much of my own boring cooking to compare it to. I should put more effort into cooking for me, but I really hate the process, way more than I love the results. So I flail and then do the tasting dance of joy when I have Anita meals. It's kind of a nice balance.

Clearly I am hungry so it's time to put on my walking shoes.

I wish I could afford a Chef Anita. As you've suggested, I really hate the process, but love the results. I need to cut back on the amount of money I spend eating out; but, it's more than sustenance, it's also a social thing. *shrug* ... We'll see how well I do.

Actually, I think if I had an easy eating out option that was social, I might trade it for Anita. Maybe. That social thing is pretty damned important.

Add RAINN to the list of people never to give money directly to, due to NPR syndrome. They completely hound you - and with exceedingly triggery messages in my email box! - and unsubscribing digitally never worked. I had to talk to an Actual Human and tell them never to contact me again, at which point I had to be directed to a supervisor in order to be permanently unsubscribed.
