A Sally Field morning
Dec. 4th, 2012 09:22 amThey like me... They really like me.
I try not to think about it and mostly am successful but still, now and again, I stew over getting laid off. Or rather over the message it sent to me: We don't need you or want you any more and don't care enough to tell you we're firing you.
It has bugged me for 5 months now. Until today. I got an invitation to their Christmas party! At first I thought the invitation was in error. Then I looked at the rest of the invite list and on it were people who had left the company on their own and not on it were people I know they wanted to get rid of and did.
So I'm not on their shit list. I'm laughing at myself at how much better this makes me feel. It's an amazing relief! I've come to accept that my personality is one that a lot of people don't like but my work effort and ethic is the soft spot on my baby head.

Tija is getting up to the top floor of the building across the street at 9:30 this morning so I can get a photo of the little tree!!

Anita is here cooking. Today's menu:
Pan-Fried Chicken with Gorgonzola Mashed Potatoes
Pork Tenderloin with Sage & Marsala Sauce and Roasted Cauliflower
Smoked Salmon Chowder and Biscuits
Honey-Garlic Chicken with Little Glazed Onions and Mushrooms
Penne alla Puttanesca and Fontina Cheese Bruschetta
YUM!!!

My new alarm for the new John Hockenberry program on NPR's Oklahoma station was a total fail. I was half asleep when, they gave the time as 9:15 - WTF????!!!! Oh... really it's 7:15. Then I listened to the program... I'd forgotten how while half the time he's fascinating, Hockenberry can be overbearingly annoying the other half. Alarm changed back to local stations. Good to try new things. Gooder that I can go back to old if I want.

Too bad about the OK station. For alarms I try to stay in the same time zone. Right now it's KOMO (because I was a summer intern there in a previous century). It's kind of funny waking up to Seattle weather and traffic reports after all these years away.
At 7:15 I can't think of anything down here worth waking up to. At 8:15 weekdays, KCBS has a 10-minute chat with John Madden which you might enjoy. It's not in the search, all the CBS stations are an app, CBS/CA/SF will get you there.

Date: 2012-12-05 04:33 am (UTC)I won't be going to the party (I really hate those kinds of parties) but that really wasn't the point. Being validated by receiving the invitation was all I needed.
No blame no where - all is cool.
