Betty has taken to following me around everywhere and whining about whatever at high volumes. She has finally trained me to put at least a spoonful of wet cat food in the bowl most every time I get to the kitchen. And still she just stays at my ankles meowing.

howeird just this weekend got his cat, Domino, a companion becuase Domino was lonely and whiney.

So when Betty drives me nuts I tell her "look what happened to Domino! do you want another cat in the house????"

So far... it's working. But, I think I'll pull up a couple of cat adoption pages on the computer just to reinforce my position

Our cases are similar - we both adopted a girlcat who was an only cat for a while, then we adopted a boycat who eventually got big and then went away forever. But in my case, Domino had only been an only cat for a year, and was with Pumpkin for 13+ years. I don't think she even remembers having me to herself.

So I think you stand a better chance of threatening Betty into behaving. :-)

When I got Betty, there was already a cat here who died. Then Betty was an only cat for not very long (a couple of months or so before Travis), but she was pretty mopey during those months. She's not mopey now, she's just a diva.

I think she just thinks cause I'm here all the time, my time should be spent at her bidding!

The Second Cat Threat, I think like you say, could work out.

No, Travis is dead but Betty was not a big Travis fan - actually, I think she's not a fan of anything that will steal her Only Cat crown. But if she gets too needy, I swear I'm going to get another cat and she'll have to share again. So far, it's an empty threat.
