The Roku turned out to be a better deal than I thought.  When they were first announced, I bought one and waited a good while before they ever shipped out.  They had Netflix and really that was about it.  My TV/TiVo/DVD mix at the time was hugely confusing and convoluted and Roku was not adding enough value so I sent it to my brother.

Things have changed...  Roku wise speaking.  Until I fired it up, I had not focused on the breadth.  Besides Amazon and Netflix, there is CNET and Revision3 and TWIT and etc etc etc - lots o' good stuff.  On the down side, the wifi radio is f l a k e y at least at my house.  I couldn't keep a show going on any channel for very long.  Plus there was other stuff I wanted so.... I returned the low end and bought the high end.  So I ended up paying twice as much - which was still about half what my very first Roku cost.  And I get ethernet.  PLUS thanks to Christmas, Amazon gave me free one day shipping.  That sucker will be here today!

My brother is doing a webinar today at 11.  I will have to leave for swimming before it's over but I'm interested in hearing him do a least part.  He is/was an actor and knows his stuff and  knows his audience (small business) so it should be good.

There's a new food truck - grilled cheese and other delights - over at Starbucks HQ (about a mile from here) today.  I think I'm going to stop there after swim class today.  It just dawned on me that next Tuesday's class won't be - actually the next two Tuesdays.  Poop.

Betty is being particularly snuggly this morning.  She's never one to snuggle my face or neck or even put up with my holding her but she's all over my lap a lot of the time and her favorite thing is to position her head so that my typing or my knitting will create a rhythmic head rub for her.  Cracks me up.  She's really very good company.

I think I'll read my book until Webinar time...

My son just connected a Roku to my living room TV on Tuesday night. I have no idea how to work it but I'll figure it out after Christmas. The nice thing about it is that we can play Pandora Christmas music on Christmas Eve without having to change CD's. We will have to have the CD out for Snoopy and the Red Barron Christmas song. We all march about the house singing and laughing. It's a hoot!

Had the same problem with my radio, turned out to be the Logitec squeezebox server was having issues. It seems to be fine now.

When I worked for Netflix, we all had an original Roku on our desks as a reality check. If it played on the Roku, and not on the machine we were testing, there was a bug in the machine we were testing. We heard rumors Roku was going to improve their video and also offer competitor's feeds, but when I left about 2 years ago it was just a rumor. I'm seeing them at Fry's now, looks good.
