One of the 40 million things I had to do and, in fact got done, today was getting personal thank you notes ready for our CEO to do. About a dozen customers and analysts and partners all gave our little company glowing recommendations to venture capitalists when we were looking for new funding. We collected the list and decided that it would be appropriate for our CEO to send them hand written thank you notes.

This weekend I got the stationery and wrote out suggested text. Today I collected all of the addresses and addressed all the envelopes in careful handwriting with handwritten return addresses and then boxed up the project and gave it to the CEO to write the notes. I wrote out instructions, too.

When I was little - before I learned to read and write, my Mom used to print out short thank you notes that I had to copy for each gift I received for my birthday and Christmas. The rule at my house was that there was no playing with anything until the thank you note was in the mail.

I thought about adding to the instructions - 'there's no spending of that $15 million until these notes are in the mail'... I stopped myself in time.

I also wrapped a half dozen Christmas CD's with brightly colored holiday wrapping paper today as part of a direct mail campaign we are doing. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find Holiday (not Christmas) To/From tags at this time of the year? In three weeks they will be littering evey store... but now... nada.

I do have an interesting job.

I think you should include that note, even if with just a stickie... it'll make an impression the CEO will remember...

Peace

somewhere, on HP's seemingly 50 bazillion page website, there's all kinds of printing projects, including gift tags, gift wrap, cards, etc. for all occasions, and table decorations, too. found it! HP printsville (http://www.homeandoffice.hp.com/hho/us/eng/creative_projects.html)

just in case you need something

I have probably the most bloated bookmark file on earth. Where that link came from is actually from hp's granddaddy list of their own, hp landmarks (http://www.hp.com/JumpData/landmarks.html), a listing that tries to compete with my bookmark file.
