I love the dollar store, part 2

So, last week when I was at the dollar store, I picked up something that at the time I thought 'whoa, this has to be a scam but I'll pay a buck to prove it to me!'

It was a flat vase with teeny little beads.  The vase was supposed to stand on its own when filled with water and the tiny (the size of seed beads) beads were supposed to grow to fill the vase, help keep the flowers hydrated and act as a kind of faux frog to keep the stems upright.  For $1.



The instructions say it takes 6 to 12 hours for the beads to grow fully and it took 24 but when they finished, they were the size of marbles.

It makes a beautiful table decoration. I love it and it tickles me to bits.



It's supposed to be reusable and I hope it isn't but to hedge my bet, I popped in today and got two more.

Oh and the sunflowers were from Trader Joe's. They cost me $3!

Coolest thing ever!!

Don't judge me but the first thing I thought when i read your post was "how do they fold the glass?" Yep, blonde hair strikes again!

Now i'm wondering if they have them at our Dollar Tree and I'm gonna have to go check it out. I'm on a strict budget at the moment but I think I can spare a buck.
