The Morning Mom Report

She's still better but not as better as everyone had hoped, apparently. When I called this morning, she answered the phone and knew who I was. She sounded chipper but she did tell me that someone told people to stay with her and that they were not there just to visit that they never leave! Then she asked me what we were going to do about Anne Speas. (Anne is a social worker at 'the home' that neither of us like or trust BUT since Mom moved out of her big apartment, we also have no dealings with her any more so that question clearly came out of Confusionville.)

I asked her if I could talk to Patricia and she said sure. Patricia (the keeper on shift) said that Mom was better that the doctor had been in twice already this morning and had gone back to review Mom's charts and decide if she was going back to 'the home' today. When I got back to Mom she said she didn't care if she went home today or not. I told her that Patricia and the other Patricias would be there around the clock until she went back to Bishop Gadsden. "Oh really? Well, isn't that nice."

According to Polly, Mom is getting really annoyed with mental pop quizzes. Every time anyone comes into the room they ask her 'do you know who I am?' Or 'do you know where you are?' She knows why they do it but it's getting old. Polly also said that yesterday when her doctor (she and her doctor are madly deeply in love with one another) came in, he asked her if she knew who he was and she said 'The world's best doctor!' Then he asked her if she knew who she was and she thought about it and then popped right back with 'The world's best patient?!'

She does sound like she not in as much pain and she's not unhappy. Those are biggies in my book.
