Mom and Mark Twain
Jun. 5th, 2005 11:45 amNote from my brother send from Mom's room:
"The reports of Mom's eminent demise are exaggerated."
And then his next note:
"Mom just drops track on reality every now and then. And gets cranky because she "just doesn't know what is going on". But she's had a bath and walks to the bathroom as needed. With the O2 and being able to be upright she can clear her lungs she's doing better, I think.
I'll write more when we get home. Dana may come up here next week but there's really not much to be done since Mom isn't very mobile and has someone sitting with her all the time anyway."
So, we have Theresa-the-sky-is-falling and my brother-nothing-will-happen-to-my-Mom. I suspect the truth is somewhere in between. To me dropping track on reality and feeling like she doesn't know what's going on are fairly serious quality of life points but the fact that she can get to the bathroom is a fairly key indicator.
I'm not as relieved and delighted as I think I should be. Maybe I'm just not reacting quickly.
