Cook day!

Today is Chef Anita day.  She just got here and cooking is commencing.

Last night I 'shopped' online for Betty's new kitty and basically came away overwhelmed.  It's weird - looking at cats online does not make me run out to adopt in general. But I can hardly bear to look at dogs online because I want every single one of them.

But, I did get a list of places and printed out their info forms to fill out and developed a plan.  I figured tomorrow, I'd head out.  The first one opens at 11.

And then I posted about it on Google Plus and a guy I used to work with posted a link that totally changed my plans.  The link was to Jasper who is the most precious and perfect sounding kitty ever.  And she's at the same shelter that gave me Betty and Travis!!  They aren't open on Mondays and Tuesdays and don't open until noon.  But I think the new plan is to be there at noon tomorrow.

Jasper - Domestic Short Hair - Brown/Tabby - Brown Mix- small • Adult • Female
"Look at my dazzling eyes! I'm Jasper, and I am a tender soul who is looking for a forever home to call me own.I am a super-friendly lap-cat - some even call me "the purring machine"! I even get along with all other animals...I sure am a keeper! I love being held, and even riding in cars - I am pretty much perfect.
I have a funny little folded in ear - but I think it makes me unique & gives me even more personality!
Please come meet me today...I want to love you!"

Isn't she adorable??  I hope she's still there. I had kind of assumed the turnover was such that most of the ones online were no longer there but then [livejournal.com profile] badrobot68 added a comment that he had found his Emma online and adopted her from there six years ago so now I'm all hopeful!!

Betty is in denial so far.  She won't even look at the screen.

In other non-news, swim class at noon today.

Jasper looks and sounds completely precious. Looking at the shelter inmates (especially the dogs) twists my heart every time. I'm delighted you're looking to adopt another homeless cat. Hopefully, she and Betty will hit it off quickly and be great pals.

Best of luck.

we went into the place and our Sam totally lied to us by jumping in my lap and purring madly ... then she got to our house and it was major psychosis all the time ... shrieking all night , peeing all over the place , hiding behind the sofa , throwing tantrums... liar liar pants on fire!

We paid a behaviorist and got her medication, but jeez

Jasper surely is a little cutie. And being an adult is sort of cool. I always think the kitties have such a cute factor that they get an edge in the adoption process. So whenever it's possible to get an adult, always a good thing. Plus they are usually potty trained and have whatever personality they are gonna have.

We just said goodbye to Mariah, our cat of 10 years. She was an OLD lady when we adopted her (someone had dropped her at our stables) and we knew nothing about her just that she was a long haired brown tabby. We took her in to get her spayed back then and were told by our vet that she already had a "spay" scar so someone had done that for her at least. Such a nice kitty who lived a really long time and was our best little pet for a good long time. We miss her.

the petfinder entries i see usually say if the cat is workable with other cats ... or maybe they do it the other way around (they say if the cat isn't good with other animals).

i like that she has character. i got two of my four online (not through petfinder, but through a rescuer here on lj) ... got one sight unseen. someone who had adopted sam brought him back to [livejournal.com profile] simplykimberly complaining that he had eye boogers (!). sam now lives with me where he has an eye booger now and then.

Only you know for sure, but Jasper looks like a good candidate for you.

omg she is so cute!

just a fyi from my own experience. Usually it is easier to add a neutered male to a female established cat house. Females can be a bit snippy with each other. I have 3 females and there is no way I will add another to this house. If I pick up another cat it will be a boy. Males (neutered) are more likely to bond with others.

But I do hope this one is perfect for you and Betty!
