When I was little we didn't have many snow days but one of the best things about the few that we had is that we got to wear our pajamas under our clothes to go out and play in it.  I think this was a layer for warmth.  I have no clue why now, but back then, I thought this was the greatest thing ever.

When I was little, we used to go to the circus every year.  I never enjoyed it because I knew, at the end, they would shoot the guy out of the cannon and I hated that noise so much.  I have no idea why - I wasn't a scaredy cat or particularly fearful but man, I hated that cannon act.  To this day, I'm not that big on circuses, but I'm cool with the cannon dude. Whatever.

My mom was a lifelong tennis player and a good one - she played until her knees gave out at age 75.  But in what is called middle school now, she would, once in a while, show up at school to pick me up or drop off something and she would be in her short little tennis dress and sneakers.  For some reason, this was THE most embarrassing thing that happened to me ever.  I hated it so much, I wanted a different mother.

When I was in college, my parents live in Manhattan at a posh address. I used to lie about where they lived because the address embarrassed me.   It was the time of hippies.  And I was an idiot. But, I really did want them to live in New Jersey.

:) As for the last two paragraphs I really can relate to you and would have felt the very same way. But, as you said, we were idiots.

This is one of your best posts ever!

If your jamas were anything like the ones I remember, they were probably flannel-y = better extra layer for warmth than most regular clothes. Also, if your snow clothes soaked thru (as mine so often did) and your innner layer got wet, jamas are less fuss to wash and dry again than most regular clothes. So it was a smart move -- luckily it was also a move that you found joy in!
