Man on Highway 520 overpass in Bellevue snarls traffic

Highway 520 at 148th Avenue Northeast in Bellevue was closed for about an hour in both directions early this morning while police subdued a nude, suicidal man on an overpass.

Officers stunned the 48-year-old man with a Taser gun at about 7:15 a.m. and arrested him. Neither he nor any officers were injured.

Highway 520 was then re-opened.

The man had been carrying a knife and threatening to jump off the 148th Avenue overpass onto 520, said Bellevue police spokesman Michael Chiu.

148th Avenue was also closed in both directions for about an hour.

This guy actually did kind of a half-assed job. If he had only waited an hour or maybe even just 45 mins, he could have had the ass end of the traffic jam dipping into Elliot Bay!

Man, that taser situation could have had painful consequences had they aimed properly!

People around here are lucky. They know they can get away with blocking traffic off like that and causing a major interruption to everyone. Back home in Louisiana, I'd pitty the fool. I can imagine it now,

"Billybobb we got us another jumper on I-10 over pass exit 12 near Breaux Bridge."

"No problem, Jesse, I got ma rifle, he'll be down in two ticks."

I'm a little fuzzy headed today and my imagination is running riot with images of mum and naked man..I've been thinking about her,and when I do I see her sitting at the table with her friend,glad she's improving,Susan,truly.

Thank you!! And the best part of the whole naked man story happened without me.

Theresa the head nurse finally did call me back laughing hysterically. Mom told her all about the naked man on the overpass and Theresa thought she really had gone over the bend for sure until Mom and her sitter convinced her that I really had called with the story.
