Don't most if not all of you read my journal via your friends' pages? So unless you comment, you never see the layout/template/scheme of mine? Right?

I've been screwing around with my layout and making sure it is exactly what I want to see everyday (who am I kidding - 12 times a day) for LJ catching up. I'm not so focused on the main page because except for the casual passerby and/or anonymous visitor, no one ever sees that, right?

Or am I missing something big in the clue department?

The only times I ever see my friends LJ styles is when I comment on one of their entries and go "Ohh look at that" and have a look around! :)

If I'm logged in, I never see someone else's style. My comment pages all open with ?style=mine at the end. I like the uniformity of the basic LJ style.

I don't know if it's possible in S2. If it is, I might go back to my S2 style. As it is, that's the main reason I'm still using the old-school S1.

With that being said, I love your current style. Simple is good, in my book. It's one of the few S2 styles that I can say I really like. I haven't played around with S2 very much at all, so I don't know that much about it.

If you have an S2 style system, you can override other's styles...

Let's say you say something about xyz, and I think "hey, I think she mentioned that just recently!", I'll go look at your recent entries to see if I can see any mention of it.

Or I might realize that you wrote something last night I wanted to comment on, and it's easier to go to your page, rather than wading backwards through all my friends pages. :)

Well, you know my sad story.

Sometimes if I've been gone for a day or two my friends' page can be overwhelming. So I'll go to my info page and start clicking on friends names to catch up on their journals. Then I see their style.

I read LJ and most other blogs via RSS feeds, so I defintiely don't see layout unless I comment.

I use a couple of different readers, both of which integrate into Outlook. One is called intraVnews and the other is YouSubscribe. YouSubscribe works better for LJ blogs, but intraVnews is better for most others.

The nice thing about integrating the RSS feeds into Outlook is now I can read all the blogs like emails, since both blogs and emails are message-based, it contextually makes sense. It also makes it really easy to know what I've read and what I haven't, and to be able to archive entries I'd like to keep around for future reference.

I read it on mine, comment on my layout but the comment loads on yours. And I noticed yesterday you've been tweaking it. Noice.

I'm doing same. And I became a permanent account yesterday (1 day sale), a level of commitment I generally seek to avoid...

That's pretty well true. One reason for throwing in the odd lj cut is to show off my style.

I had a perfect opportunity to use festuche today, but couldn't think of the darn word, so I used hullaballoo.

I mostly read on my friends' page, yes. But I click through a lot so I can read the comments even if I'm not posting one!

Yep, I'm very firmly in the "I don't see your layout unless I comment" pile.

What started me doing it that way was when I switched to Firefox (although it was 'Phoenix' then) way back when and discovered that several journals I read then (and in the beginning there were only three I read) used styles that did not display readably in Firefox/Phoenix.

I've gotten to where I don't pay a lot of attention to the style of any page of my journal other than "friends". I figure there just aren't that many people who will see it. And for making entries in my own journal I usually use a client anyway.
