Mom is good

Mom sounded more like herself this morning than she did before she fell. She was crisp and clear and made sense and even seemed to hear better! I think next week, we'll be able to wean her off the sitters. I gather she is being nicer to them now but she's also wanting her privacy back, and, while I am grateful that we can afford them, they are cutting into my inheritance...

melodysk pointed out that Monday starts Wimbledon. Looks like Mom's signed up for another year. Amazing. Really.

What sort of time delay is there for watching Wimblebum over there? It normally starts at 2pm here so that would be about 7am for you would it?

Is it on a normal channel or do you have to subscribe?

Really good questions and I don't know! I never watch the stuff myself. But, I looked it up and it appears that ESPN (sports network) has it now. And they pretty much seem to have it covered gavel to gavel but look at the times, I don't think it's live. Best I can recall there's a 6 hour difference between Mom and you. That would be 9 hours between me and you.

You can't just grab a TV and plug it in and get ESPN. You have to subscribe to cable to get that network. BUT, it's not like HBO or a movie channel where you have to subcribe to cable AND pay extra. (HBO carried Wimbledon for a while several years ago. Mom used to sign up and pay extra and then cancel her subscription at the end of July!)

Great to hear. I think you'd better be prepared for the possibility that your Mom will outlive you. (Or, more to the point, maybe she should.)

I do worry a little bit about what she would do without me. Especially now that clearly she's still not dead yet.

About 5 years ago, I was there when she had a stroke and they put in her pacemaker. One of the doctors told me then that there was no way she could live out the year with her heart and lungs in as bad a shape as they were then (his point was that I should not worry about her dying of a stroke...)

It's clearly a lesson in Be Ready For Anything Cause Anything Is Bound To Happen.
