Thank you, Betty

Last night, I think I realized it but this morning, it was very clear that Betty was done with this life.  She let me pick her up and cuddle her and put her in the carrier without a single complaint. (She hated that damn carrier and it was always a fight to get her in it and she screamed and cried until we were back home and she was out again.)   She was totally silent all the way to the vet.

This kind of made it easier.  When we got to the vet and I pulled her out and set her in my lap, she made no attempt to get out.  That new vet is really a great place with wonderful people who made the whole thing easier still.

We had a great 13 years and I will miss her teeny tiny silky self a whole bunch.

I was just looking through Betty pictures and realize how much she had aged.  I found some from when I first got her and she was almost porky!!  But this one is my all time favorite.  The other cat is Jake who I had for about 16 years.  They were quite the pair.

Cats and other pets are part of our family. They all have characteristics that make them unique and special to us. We give them our best love, and they love us back. We've just found a kitten in the garden, we didn't want another cat, but now we're captivated with it and hope the we can try and do our best for it. It's very aloof and we may not be able to tame it- it may be too late, but we're trying. Hope you are OK, just to say I'm thinking about you.

She was such a pretty and lively lady. I loved the pictures you'd post of her and the stories about her antics. Her with her lion cut always cracked me up. I hope wherever she is now she's at peace, pigging out and evicting Travis from his comfy spot.

Thank you. I was glad, this morning, that I had not gotten her lion cut this summer. I would have hated to have to have laughed at her while she was dying. That cut was always hysterical!

Susan - I'm so sorry to hear about Betty. We lost our girl at the ripe old age of 17, and even though I was recognizing the signs it was still a shock to see this post. I'm so sorry, but also so happy that you found a place with such good karma to take her for her last ride to the vet. Sending good thoughts to you and Zoey as you miss her...

very sweet picture and I am so sorry you lost Betty today. It's never easy but as a long time cat parent you just know when they are done. The way she got so skinny made me think maybe she went into renal failure. That is what happened to my 22 yr old Natasha kitty a few years back. She was just skin and bone and very listless the day I lost her.
