Droppings ... so far
Jul. 8th, 2005 09:30 amMom reports that her butt is pretty much healed. She says if she sits too long, she can feel the effects of the break when she gets up but otherwise, she's good to go. This has set her back a bunch, however. Her 'go' has been slowing down for about 5 years now but it has gone into crawl mode since her latest bounce. Even she notices - "I put on my blouse and then sit and think about things for a while and then put on my skirt. It takes me a good hour just to get my clothes on." But, then, she acknowledges, she's got no reason to hurry so it's fine.
We had Seattle rain this morning on the way to work. Seattle rain is different than the rain I grew up with. Especially in the Summer, when it rains it pours, there is thunder and lightening and it turns everything from hot to steamy hot. In Seattle, it does not pour - generally, we get very light, sparse, gentle kind of hit and miss drops that generally cool things off - and they weren't that hot to start with. We rarely get thunder or lightening. And it really is honestly rarely very humid. In my book, it's actually the way weather should be.
I could use a few more thunder and lightening storms. One thing I love best about them here is how the tv and radio news and weather people cannot deal. They are forever warning people about the dangers of thunder. Or reporting that thunder struck a tree. It never fails to crack me up.
But, this morning was just a regular Seattle rain. From here on out, it looks like, we are going to have Summer. So the air conditioner is job #1 this weekend. I may even do it this afternoon so I can have it going to knock off the baking from the sun tomorrow morning.
Job #2 is going to be recabling the TV setup. I've given it a lot of thought and done some research and I think that it is currently over-complicated. I believe I can simplify it and even eliminate some of the cables. It means moving the two pieces of furniture out from the wall which is tricky by myself but I think I can manage that part. John, the shelf guy, is supposed to be coming on Sunday to do shelf work so he can help me get it all back into place then.
Job #3 is going to be grocery shopping. Gathering special foods. Not too hot, hot too cold, no chewing necessary and don't forget to get straws.
And that's all I got... so far... today... but, stay tuned - no telling what could happen.

Current forecast says we're to have showers clear until Monday.
My kind of weekend. (At least when it's not Pride or the 4th of July. I know, I think I can be choosy . . . and so I am.)

Date: 2005-07-08 09:08 pm (UTC)* Rice or Tapioca pudding (or some of those little single serving pudding snacks
* Yogurt
* Tuna fish salad - no celery or carrots in it (my personal recipe has both) cause they are hard bits (also canned tuna, canned Salmon (though watch out these have bones) and other canned processed fish and meats are easy to eat and soft as well
* Soups of your choice but get a couple of vegtable soups and maybe some chicken soups - you don't have to eat the stuff in it but it adds flavor. I like Campbells Beef and Barley and like most canned soups, pretty much everything in it has been cooked so much that its more than soft enough and as long as you let it cool enough that it's not very hot it'll be fine
* Saltine crackers with unsalted tops - You can dip these into the soups so they are soft and the unsalted tops make them less salty and don't add salt to the soup and no salt to the wound
* Some soft bread - get your basic wonder white bread -the kind the 5 year olds like - it's very soft and easy enough to eat alone but you can always dip that into soup as well.
* Jello if you like that kind of stuff - Jello salad is good too - they have these premade at the deli section of the grocery stores ususally
* Instant mashed Potatos - my favorite comfort food. I don't know why but it is. But you have to have real milk and real butter. The instant part makes it 1) quick and 2) smooth but the real milk and butter makes it taste yummy.
* Eggs - Scramble them with cheese, make a cheese omlet - very few egg dishes are hard to eat
Anyway hope those help spark some ideas - I'm used to the soft foods thing from the post gastric bypass deal - though I couldn't do the sugar thing but I figured you wouldn't have so much of a problem.
