I've got a couple of those over the years from Bestbuy. It costs them more to process the transaction than the refund is worth.

One of my co-workers moved not too long ago, and as part of the moving process, she called PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric) to cancel her service at the old place. PG&E mailed her a check for $0.01 for the amount she overpaid for her last month. She decided to keep the check for its amusement factor - she's got it hanging on her office wall.

I always figured it would be worth knowing you one day *g*

They're not giving you the full two cents' worth

A customer support call typically costs a few bucks' worth of overhead. I'm just sayin'.

What I like is when they send an actual *check* for $.01.
Recently, I begged Merrill Lynch to keep the danged money
and leave me the eff alone already.
