Real Snow!
Dec. 20th, 2013 08:38 am
I got up to pee at 4 am and did my first snow check. It has just started. So I went back to sleep til 6 and checked again. There was enough on the roads and it was still coming down that I decided risking the life, limb and vehicles of everyone else on road to swim was not worth chancing it. Plus, I didn't know for sure that the pool would be open. It was one of those, if you don't have to go out, don't. I didn't have to. So I didn't.
By 7 it had stopped. This pic of the baseball field makes me want to go down there (it's 2 blocks from here) and roll around the field.
The pool will be open at 11, it will be 40 degrees and raining then. Great - indoor - swimming weather.
Nothing else really on my plate today which is really luxurious.

Date: 2013-12-21 04:36 pm (UTC)Back in 1996 or '97, when I decided (and it was still possible) to improve the location of my Fenway Park season tickets, I got an appointment to go and see where the possible available seats were -- in February. That was a pretty snowy winter, and except for a few corridors that had been dug out the field was covered with what looked like about 4 feet of snow. (The seats I chose were said to be right behind third base, but since third base was completely invisible I had to take their word for it.) It was amazingly beautiful.
The sales rep did not invite me to go down onto the field and roll in the snow.
