susandennisToday, for me, is like Labor Day or Memorial Day. Everything is closed including the pools and there are no services - delivery or otherwise. I'm ok with all the Christmas around me. I don't really care one way or the other. I do kind of dread the next few days of Year In Review and New Year's Resolutions. They are just annoying. But, otherwise, I'm kind of teflon-y about the whole thing.
I have a life of wonderful Christmas memories but instead of being nostalgic, it's really like while I'm grateful for the memories, I have had enough and don't need more. I am relieved that I do not feel compelled to find people to be around and don't have to do any family anything.
For the past few years, I have gone out to dinner on Christmas Eve with my neighbors. I finally wriggled out of it this year and was so grateful last night that I didn't have to go. This evening, I'll go down there (to Ann and Ron's) for Christmas dinner. I can handle that - the food will be amazingly wonderful as it is every year. And I can drink which will help. There is not even an elevator between my condo and theirs.
So today will be the usual kind of day when stuff is closed and nothing is really happening. TV and bear knitting. My kind of day.
First, I think, I'm going to get up and whip up some... breakfast!!
