Years ago I was I bought two foam wedge pillows when they were on sale at Sears. I think they were something like $5 each.  They are covered - one black and one lime green - in a nice fabric. I got them to lean against when I read in bed. One for my bed and one for the fish bed.  They have worked great.

Night before last, I woke up too stuffed up to breathe and grabbed the one I had tossed to the floor and turned it around so I could sleep with my head elevated.  It worked great.  So last night, that's how I slept all night long and it was fabulous!  I slept more soundly than I have in a long time.

The whole adjustable bed thing is looking more and more wonderful.  BUT if I can't find exactly what I want, this wedge might work just as well anyway.  Nice to have options that work!

First today there will be breakfast.  I could go out and then go on to the bed store but I think I'll just fix it here myself.  I have the raw materials and the inclination so why not.

My foot is still swollen but not as much and it really only hurts when I press on it and even then not so much. [livejournal.com profile] mrdreamjeans suggested that it might be gout but since it's not in a joint and been going on for nearly a week and not excruciating, I doubt it is but if it is, yeah, cause I know from experience, gout heals!

Susan, the reason I thought of this was one of my co-workers (we started the same day) had severe pain in her toe, then her entire ankle a couple of days after we started employment. She eats a lot of shellfish, fish in general and that seemed to be her trigger. She was diagnosed with pseudo-gout, not gout. I'd not heard of this before, but your blog reminded me of this. I'm sorry you're experiencing any discomfort.

I slept on an adjustable bed when I visited Texas. It was my mom's bed. Not terribly attractive, but being able to adjust the head of the bed to a slight elevation did help me sleep. The wedge just may be the inexpensive fix you need.

You can put the wedge under the mattress intend of on top of it; I've sometimes done that.

After falling down the stairs a couple of weeks ago, I can't put the outer edge of my right foot down without discomfort (was pain, now is just annoying). I keep POKING at it like wiggling it around is going to help.

My mother in law has an electrically adjustable bed. She loves it. As I always say, if you can afford it and it works for you, go for it!
