Anonymous LJ Readers
Feb. 20th, 2014 01:26 pmIf you do not have an LJ account, you can leave any comment you want to my journal. BUT, I've just discovered that 1. You will have to fill in a very ugly captcha and 2. if you try to include a link, your comment won't get posted.
There is a 'don't include captcha' in the settings but, apparently, LJ no longer allows this switch to be turned off.
On the up side, the amount of actual spam comments I get has gone WAY down!
I know that there are people who read this journal regularly who do not have LiveJournal accounts. I'm sorry the setup makes it a PIA for you. I'd recommend getting a free LJ account but those are so full of ads these days, I don't even think that's a good option. Sorry.
But thanks for reading and commenting when you do!

Date: 2014-02-21 06:24 pm (UTC)No one should see ads online! There's an addon called adblock (https://adblockplus.org/en/firefox) which, as the name implies, blocks ads. The link is for Firefox, but googling would get you a Chrome version. If you use IE, you're out of luck (sorry!).
Now and then I need to use IE for something work related and see webpages in their natural state. It boggles me! How in the world do people deal with seeing ads all the time?

Date: 2014-02-21 06:30 pm (UTC)Ads make much of the web possible. Without them, we'd be paying right and left for content, or, worse, no have any decent content at all.
Good web design includes adding economic necessities (ads) in a way that does not interfere with content consumption. If ads block my access/enjoyment, I don't go there.
Cutting off the economic viability of those who provide me content by using ad blocking tools just seems unfair to me.
PLUS, I've seen and bought things from well placed, well crafted web ads - and saved some serious dough!
