I made it!
Feb. 27th, 2014 11:18 amToday's adventure "Things To Do Until My Pool Opens in 10 More Days" was pretty much a huge success.
First of all, I discovered that the new bus stop - 1.5 blocks from here - serves 3 buses and 2 of them run all day 7 days a week. This is huge. 20 years ago we had great bus service here but over the years, they have chipped away at it until 4 years ago, we had none. The next closest bus stop is about 7 city blocks from here. The buses at the new block run about every 15 minutes and get me to the other side of town (and then north of town, if I want) which is perfect.
This was a BIG and delightful discovery. Next month, the bus fair for me goes from $2.50 to $.75. This bus stop is my new best friend.
I got off the bus and made my way to the French cafe and had a great breakfast while I read my book and listened to chatter around me. Then I started the 3 or so blocks from there to Pike Place Market to see
badrobot68. On the way my right hip started hurting with every step. I mean really hurting. I had to stop about every 10 steps. I thought I was in mega deep shit. I do not need hip trouble. I stopped and got some cheese and had to stand for a fairly long time while the cheese lady did her stuff. And, turns out, that standing fixed the hip!

badrobot68 took a picture of my jacket (I forgot to hide my ugly hand but maybe the big fat chin will distract you from seeing the hand)... We had a fun little visit and then I headed out to walk home. My hip was fine and my lungs held out until almost there. I peeled into the bakery for some bread and that gave me a little rest stop. I chatted up the Real Change guy who always asks about my Green Machine and then made it home.
It's kind of nice to know that I can still walk that far, which, in real people's terms is not far at all. Plus, I may do it again because I forgot about another breakfast place in the same 'hood that I haven't been to in a long time so there may be a lather, rinse, repeat.
But, for now, it's a knit.
