Just when I think I'm too sharp to get suckered...

When the sales (should have been clue #1) guy told me that upgrading my DSL line would not result in an interruption of service I fell for it.  He said that the switch would be made at noon on Thursday and as long as I kept the old modem plugged in, the service would continue until I installed the new modem.

As we used to say in Sunday School...  BullFuckingShit.

Woke up this  morning to no connection.  None since late last night.  A call to Qwest technical support revealed that, in fact, they started the conversion so I have no access at all.  Could be fixed by 5 p.m.  Maybe.  Won't do me any good to complain until then anyway. 

Thankgod for neighbors.  I have a wireless adapter that I slapped onto the desktop.  It sees a bunch of open networks - some with decent looking signals but only can connect to one of them and it's one with a very weak signal so not much joy there.

But the mini laptop is stepping up to the plate. 

Whew.

I'm having a fun day off so far. No really. At least I was here to discover the problem and start the fix. I've read the paper and checked on my LJ friends and had coffee and now I'm heading to the shower.  The Mariner game starts at 9:30.  I expect to hear from John and Robert about mid-morning.  All is good here!

I just wanted to mention that among this circile of their friends, their collective noun is RoJo. Examples:

"So when is RoJo having their 4th of July BBQ this year?"

"Are they staying at Rojo North or RojoCentral after the game?" (Goucester vs Cambridge)

"I can't wait until RoJo are back to tell me about Susan Dennis."

There are indeed some verb inconsistencies.

Also, they are not fond of it. Alas, it has bloomed.

Ahhhh RoJo! I like it and I will refrain from using it within their earshot.

And, thanks for the reminder! I need to make sure they have a cheat sheet of my best qualities in case they forget to mention them when they get back. Where did I put those index cards???
