So.... Sheri comes at 9:45. Carpet guy comes at 10. Groceries come between 12 and 2 and now Comcast is coming between 12 and 3. I think I'll just get a freakin' revolving door.

I noticed this morning that some of my channels are missing from my channel line up. Tivo thinks they are there (which means Comcast thinks they are there) but the digital box won't tune them in. The woman on the phone said it was probably a bad cord which I think pretty much translates to 'beats the fuck out of me - I'll send a guy to your house'. At least it's free and he's coming today. I should not bitch and so I won't. Oh and I also told her that there was no way I could get to the box or the back of the TV by myself and she said to wait until the guy gets here to even try and I said fine. So really, I should not bitch about this. It's totally reasonable and actually pretty good service. I'm just still crabby, I guess.

Phyllis Diller is being interviewed on NPR. She was never a favorite but I do remember when I was little, Mom pointing out that she was doing what no other woman had done and pulling it off. She is nearly 90 and I sure wouldn't try to match wits with her. She not only has all of her marbles, she has them color sorted. Amazing.

After months and months and months of silence from telemarketers, I'm back on their radar. At least twice a night and sometimes more, I get calls from 'caller unknown'. They do not leave a message. Yes, I screen my calls. If someone wants to talk to me, they need to work for it.

I need to clean up a bit and get ready for the parade. I also need to be at Costco (steak and coffee) when the doors open at 9:30 - in and out - that's me.

I remember Phyllis Diller. She always reminds me in looks of Barbara Cartland (http://www.barbaracartland.com/bc/biography1.html) [the frightful British novelist] in her latter years. She was pinkness personified and lived to be almost 99. If I live that long, I too hope I have all my faculties ;-)

Oh, and with regards to telemarketers, I have a number withheld bar. Any calls which have their number withheld don't even get to ring, they just get a message telling them their call won't get through unless their number is revealed. Works a treat :-)

The telemarketers are required to give caller ID now aren't they? I guess they are becoming desperate. Giid. If telemarketers ceased to exist I think the world would be a better place.

True enough, and I've heard a couple of "those rules don't apply to us". Well, if people think I put my name on the national do-not-call list because I have trouble telling them "Look! Fuck off!" then they are in for a stressful call.

I feel sorry for the people doing the calling, but I wouldn't be the slightest bit sad to hear their bosses house had burned down. Karma.

I heard of an interesting scam recently, you get a card through the door that says "fill this in for a free six pack of coke" but the small print says "by accepting this offer you establish a relationship with us and we, and our partners, may then call you with other offers". Or in other words, watch the six pack and ignore the sucker punch.

Do they really think there's a big chance of selling something to someone who is so against telemarketing?
