Mom's email this morning allowed as how she was looking at her calendar and saw that next Monday she has a hair appointment, a massage and an appointment to have her pacemaker checked.

"I cannot do all of that in one day - I just don't have the energy. So I rescheduled the heart guy - he can wait."

I think she is feeling better. And I know she has her priorities in order.

I finally got notice that my new Crocs are shipping. But as all things with Croc business, I'm going to hold off bringing out the dancing hamster. My credit card has not been charged yet. And the shipping number they sent last night is not in the Fed Ex data base yet. But, hey, what am getting so antsy about? I only placed the order 18 fucking days ago!!! These guys make great shoes but seem to be pretty fucking clueless about the rest of the process.

Since the shelf guy is not expected until this weekend and nothing else is really going on with the decorating project until he gets the shelves in, I have a string of days when my house is now my own again! I did not even make up the bed this morning. Both cats were giving me the evil eye when I left. They do not, apparently, like to lounge around on an unmade bed.

I have had my accounts at the same credit union now for about a decade. Most, if not all of that time, they've had a web version of 'check your balances'. I've had a Visa card with them the whole time. I don't use it a lot and always pay it to 0 within days of any charges appearing. Today I saw my normal 0 balance and then under payment, I see a charge of $25 and a due date of 9/15. ???? So I picked up the phone and gave 'em a call. I learned that this is the way this has always been. Why in the world, after 10 years, am I only seeing it now?

And, probably more importantly, what in the world else am I missing that is right in front of my eyes???

I like your mom's priorities. I agree with Mark Twain...if I can't go to 70 in comfort and style, I don't want to go :-)

I assume that this is a yearly charge for your card? If so, then I don't think it has always been that way. You and I use the same credit union and sometime last year they suggested I switch to their platinum card to avoid that charge which they were just instituting, I think for people having fixed rates on the card. It also had something to do with the VISA Rewards points. I did switch.

In your shoes (Crocs?) I would ask for the removal of the charge or you will take your business elsewhere. Banks and credit unions don't like customers to leave and will usually give in.

Ah, now I get it. And I hate to tell you this, but that minimum payment and due date have been there forever.

I don't do annual charges, either. The card I now have normally has an annual charge, but since I've been with the credit union for over 25 years, they offered it with a permanent waver --- in writing --- of the fee. Probably didn't hurt that I run a fair share of our expenses through the card each month even if I do pay it off in full each month.
