I cut about a quarter mile off my swim in order to meet Julie for a walk. It was probably a good thing I did. I was going to need the energy.  I followed her to the park which was a pretty long (in my book) drive. She says she goes every day. It's 20-25 minutes from the pool and her house.

And it was a looooooooong walk. I am so glad I did not know ahead of time that it was 2.4 miles. Fortunately, it was flat. And not horribly hot but we walked mostly in the sun and that was not at all pleasant.  I did ok.  She was very kind - suggesting we stop and rest every now and then which was helpful. And we talked the whole way so it was pretty clear when I was running out of breath.

It was fun and interesting. She and I have completely different values and ideas of things which was very interesting.

I am beat to a pulp and my face is not very attractively sunburned. I'm glad I did it and I'm glad I don't have to do it again.

Seriously, I do not 'get' the value of communing with nature.  She clearly was energized by the trees and bugs and flowers and animals and sunshine. I could see it but I can't be it.

I am delighted to be home, with my feet up and the certain knowledge that I will sleep like a fucking rock tonight!

I have so much more patience for the finishing part of knitting when I'm doing it on a bench in some park - after a nice long walk. LOL

It's good that you can find the differences in your values interesting (as opposed to cause for conflict).
