I started off at Re-PC which is a fabulous store of used and new (mostly really used) computer bits and bobs. It's been there since Grace Hopper was a baby and is a fascinating place to wander around BUT today I only needed an adapter plug. No wandering. I was pretty sure they would not have it - they tend to stick to ancient tech and I needed a VGA to HDMI or DVI to DisplayPort adapter. But the shop is very nearby and on the way to the pool and I figured I'd make sure they didn't have it and then order it from Amazon on my phone before swimming.

BUT how wrong I was! They not only had it, the adorable guy recommended against an adapter and a cable and sold me a fully made cable with HDMI on one end and DVI on the other. Perfect. $4. Say what???  Wow.

Then on to swimming. I was a little worried. Sunday's swim was such a disappointment. While I was swimming I didn't want to be there. What if I nailed the coffin on my swimming lust????  But, when I walked in the door, I felt like I was home. The pool was pretty and clear and Julie was there to swim along with Slow Guy and my favorite lifeguards were on duty and all was excellent.  It was pointed out to me that I was wrong.  My pool is 25 yards long.  The Sunday saltwater pool is 50 meters long or 54.68 yards long! I knew if felt more than twice as long and I was right!

I could get used to the length, I think.  Or used to the salt water.  But not the trip there and back.

I did have a great swim today so all is fine.

Then home where I plugged in my new cable and it worked like a charm.  Right out of the bucket. Now I have three monitors - each has a different display and they look great.  I set the Lenovo back to factory default. Decommissioning it removed a lot of wires and cables and cleaned up my whole set up considerably.  I cleaned up the Lenovo and boxed it up in hopes of beating the UPS guy which I did not. He can get it tomorrow.

I had 5 boxes of bear stuffing delivered today.  JoAnn's had a sale a week or so ago - free shipping and reduced price on my favorite stuffing.  I'm good now until maybe even the end of the year!

Then I had to breakdown all the boxes and take them down to the dumpster.  Now I am e.haust.ed. And my back is killing me but it's all done.  I still need to install the EyeFi card on my desktop for those very rare times I use my point and shoot camera but that can wait... I need to sit.

Lots of tidbits of good news!

I'm curious - How did your skin feel this time after the salt water swim? Same benefits as before?

Never underestimate what RE-PC will have as I bought the DVI-HDMI dongle for Mom's old eMachines when I installed an older PCI based Invidia G-Force 5200 graphics card in it.

Though I never did look into the cable that converts from DVI to HDMI though, oh well. That was last year at some point.

It's my go-to for such stuff on the cheap. In fact, all of the upgrades to that PC were from there, including the wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard, new and in the box, the cheap wireless nic, along with the 1MB L2 Cache Northwood P4 processor to replace the Celeron D that the PC came with, all right there at the store in the SODO.

Hi from Oshawa, Canada. Just catching up with your posts and wanted to thank you for mentioning Grace Hopper. I didn't know the name, so looked it up on Google. What an amazing woman! I read her bio and watched some youtube videos. She was a force to be reckoned with. Her age was not a barrier to her and that is my inspiration at age 74. Stay safe and healthy, Mar.

I apologize for the typo in her name. I talked about her that same day to my Godson (17yrs) to emphasize that gender and age doesn't have to hinder a person when it comes to learning and teaching. He was suitably impressed. Oh, and I was born and raised in Toronto, and still like to go there for the entertainment, food and shopping. Mar
