So far the sun has been hidden all day and I'm hoping against hope that this means it will not be egg-frying, Africa hot going home this afternoon.

I have been using the feed from The Weather Channel's web page on my webcam - but, as [livejournal.com profile] estis so kindly pointed out yesterday, it is a lying sack of shit. I think it is coded to never show more than 66 degrees. As soon as I finish this entry, I'm off to find another weather window for that page. Right now it says 65 degrees and cloudy - my start home page shows 73 degrees and cloudy - Google's start page shows 64 degrees and raining. I can look at the window and see there's no rain. Actually a few more checks of local TV and other weather pages shows a pretty even split between 64 and 73 degrees and cloudy. hmmmm Seems like if any of them were even close to not lying through their teeth, there would be some 68's or 70's sprinkled in there...

Maybe it's time for [livejournal.com profile] jimcarson to do another Weather Rodeo!!

For some reason my web cams quit. I need to investigate when I get home and see what the problem is. The webcam software, when it 'quits' throws the new time stamp on the old picture so it 1) doesn't make much sense to even have the time stamp and 2) makes it really hard to tell at a glance that it's broken! But, otherwise, the VisionGS software is really pretty good.

In decorating news... John the shelf builder/installer is a nice guy but not even as interested in a schedule as Sheri is and her scheduling continues to be challenged. Granted, I'm way on the other side of the fence but fuck it, I would like to get this project finished, declare victory and get my keys and house back!

Everything else on the list needs his involvement as Sheri currently has it planned out. Best I can tell, this will take us into about 2009. So I asked her please to find someone else to finish off the remaining bits. I finally got a response from her just now that she agrees with my assessment and will try to find someone.

If she doesn't, I will. I need a very simple valance (one box) made and hung (I'll cover it myself). I need an alarm system boxed ripped out and the dry wall patched. Actually 3 of those. I'd like to have the wall painted afterward, but fuck it, I'll do that, too. And the other pieces, I can do as well if need be. But, then so could Sheri if she just would!

Remind me next time I do this (and since I'll be about 112 years old, I will need you to remind me several times and probably loudly), build schedule into the contract. Either offer a bonus for finishing on time or early or a fee for finishing late. It finally dawned on me this weekend that Sheri has no incentive whatsoever for ever finishing. Big mistake on my end.

I think we'll be back to summer this afternoon. Just not as hot. I look at the clouds to tell me.

Have you seen www.wunderground.com? I like it. It seems to be pretty accurate.

The thing is, all these sources give the temperature at some specific location (well, duh), and quite likely the location is different for each source -- or maybe there are, like, two standard locations. Airports seem to be a popular place to report temperatures from for some reason, even though the weather at the airport and the weather where any human is hanging around outdoors are likely to be quite different.

Maybe you've got an airport temp and a "somewhere downtown" temp.

Have you totally paid for the renovation? You would think she would want it finished. Good luck.

What a pain in the butt.
