$700 or $13.02 - you be the judge... Once I finished overthinking this project, it turned out to be pretty much a nothing burger and I'm delighted with the results. 1/8th inch foam core with old fashioned glued paper tape.
Totally worth what seems like a minimal amount of effort to save yourself a huge ton of money. I can't imagine what they'd have done that would have looked $700 better than your solution.
Are you cool or what? It looks great. Accomplished what you needed to do and wallah! That window seat and mural are awesome.....and your little cover trick makes it spectacular! Enjoy!
I like your fishies! My sister had something similar done a few years ago, but your work is more bold. I do like her birds (http://www.nezbitthecat.com/pics/birdies.html) a lot, but her flowers (http://www.nezbitthecat.com/pics/fakeflowers.html) and plants (http://www.nezbitthecat.com/pics/fakeplants.html) are boring.
