I totally forgot about tonight's Yankee game until late. I didn't even know if it was on TV. I flipped through the usual suspects and finally found it. Bottom of the 9th, tied, 1 out, 1 on and Jeter was coming up to bat. Timing... holy crap. He proceeds to drive in the winning/walk off run. And the announcers didn't fuck it up. It was just so cool. I didn't even mind that the Yankees won. Even the losing Baltimore team applauded him. What a classy classy guy.
Wow. Now he goes to play for

Date: 2014-09-26 03:11 pm (UTC)It's almost like somebody wrote a script. First, the Yankees tie the game thanks in large part to Jeter's double; they then take the lead because, when Jeter hits into what should have been an inning-ending, rally-killing double play, the Orioles shortstop throws the ball away. Then the Yankees' closer very kindly gives up three runs so that Jeter gets another shot at being the hero (and Girardi has Gardner sacrifice to make sure that Jeter bats with the winning run on base), and of course he comes through.
We're going to tonight's game. It'll be a zoo, but it will also be fun to watch him one more time. We will not, however, get to see him make any fabulous plays (or any errors, for that matter) at shortstop; he has said that he will only DH this weekend.
