Cracked the case

I'm still not installing this printer until tomorrow BUT I do think I've figured out the problem. My USB cable was too long. Switched to a shorter cable and the computer found it immediately. Doh.

I'm using a fifteen foot cable with my USB 2.0 gear and that's all working, how long a cable did you have?

The troubleshooting documentation says no more than 10 feet. I had 12. It no workie. I switched to 6, it workie. I'm ok with that.

Yup, whatever works. I wonder if they changed something for the USB 2.0 cables or the signal spec. But who cares so long as it works.

For my first job out of college, I worked for a video production place. We couldn't have cable more than six inches between our drives. That was interesting, to say the least.
