I read Gone Girl a while back. It was intriguing in the beginning. And then I came to hate both characters. I did finish it but with genuine relief that it was over. I do not remember what happened and don't care. I have zero interest in seeing the movie.

---

I got sucked into the Nationals/Giants game last night. All freakin' 18 innings.  I really don't care about post season baseball. Really. And I keep watching. This has got to stop.

---

Today is my swim lesson. The pool opens at noon and my lesson is at 12:30. My plan is to be there at noon and get in a few laps or dives before my lesson. The instructor is Katie. I have no clue who she is. But she's the only one who teaches on Sundays. I usually don't swim on Sundays because I don't want to wait until noon and the few times I have been there have been way too many kids (noise) and lane divas. I'll be interested to see if that has changed. Now that the Mariners are no longer playing, maybe I'll like going at noon better.

---

I have time to go find brunch somewhere but it's just now 8 and the top places on my list don't open until 10. I think I'll just do breakfast here. I have plenty of breakfast food on hand.

---

I signed up for a crochet class at Knit Fit in November. I can knit in the dark and what I don't know, I can teach myself easily but crochet is different. I'm not that good and not that good at teaching me. I've wanted to take a class from the Shibaguyz and they are offering up one at this event. Motif Madness. It's not the class I would have picked but I figured it will be good enough. The price tag was a bit more than I wanted to pay but, I finally went the 'you can't take it with you' route and signed up.

I often think about living somewhere else - somewhere totally remote. I think as long as I had cable tv and broadband internet, I'd be fine. Then I start making a list of all the things that wouldn't be fine. All the things that make me love Seattle and living urbanly.

The Knit Fit thing is one of those many things that make me feel that, if I didn't live here, I'd so wish I did.

Breakfast time.

Gone Girl

After hearing the hype about Gone Girl, I said to my husband "I've got that book on my Kindle" "What's it about?" he asked. "I have no idea" I said, "I'll look at the description." I then tried to read the first few lines, cause that usually helps me remember the plot, but no, I was none the wiser. Rarely have I had a book touch me with so little effect. I'm pleased to see someone else had that reaction, as I was starting to doubt myself.

I find one real flaw with having an electronic device to read/hear books. There is nothing like a really good flinging across the room of a book that was irritating, or just plain bad. I used to get great satisfaction at flinging the book, but the cost of the Kindle forbids this. So I'm stymied now.

I'm always looking for new greasy spoons to eat at. Yesterday we made the drive down to Tukwilla to eat at Randy's http://365project.org/stephomy/365 It's right by Boeing, and had an aviation theme going on. My biggest pet peeve with diners is when they mess up pancakes, and Randy's does them right.

I haven't been to Luna Park in years. Have you ever tried Bay Cafe at Fisherman's terminal?

Yeah, I only go there if I'm up early enough. Once it gets crowded, it feels like a cafeteria.

Checking out your blog post now...I had a great breakfast the first time I ate at Lucky Diner, but a horrible breakfast the second. I didn't like their pancakes at all.

In a world where it seemed everyone raved over "Gone Gir", I am glad that I am not the only one who was underwhelmed by it.

I still might see the film because I kind of like looking at that Ben Affleck. I will definately wait for the dvd though.

I have the exact opposite problem: I can crochet with my eyes closed, but can't seem to get beyond casting on and the basic knit stitch. *sigh* One of these years....

Same thing happened to us.

In other post-season news, Burningbright is not a happy tiger today.

A couple of friends mentioned how much they disliked, "Gone Girl" I am hesitant to read it because it sounds like an exhausting slog. I don't mind unsympathetic characters but I should at least be able to understand their motivations.

Hee. The thing is, I am not opposed to big giant books that are epic in multiple ways. (I'm a big fan of the book, "Vanity Fair") But there are just some books that make you say, "fine fine you won, I have given up the will."

After all the hype, I tried to start Gone Girl a few weeks ago, out of genuine curiosity. I fell asleep immediately after reading the very first chapter. I retried it last night and made it part of the way through the third chapter. Not that that makes it a bad book, but it does strike me as funny. I'm going to give a shot still, but neither of the main characters strike me as particularly likeable right now.
