Frustraaaaaaation!

Now I hate hardware AND software. The printer is not installed. The computer sees it but the HP software does not so the drivers are ignored and the computer can't find them.

Still thinking it's a USB problem, I plugged in an external and powered 2.0 USB hub which the computer will not recognize at all.

I rolled back to last week. No change in the above.

Plus after several hard and soft reboots Semagic failed and then Firefox. FUCK! ok, Semagic is back and Firefox. And the hub is back in the box o' stuff. The printer is here and not plugged into the computer.

I have a new restore point now and I'm going to go sew and install the window valance and then maybe run an errand or two and get back to the printer later. This is really really reall starting to piss me off.

I know this sounds stupid, but hp printers have to be installed in exactly the way they tell you. I just did it like I always do, but then I read the directions and it worked fine. Sometimes it is just the order you do them Something simple I am sure.

It does not sound stupid at all - it actually sounds like the answer. I finally did manage to find a clear set of instructions and updated software. Tomorrow morning, I shall follow the steps exactly. I already see what I had the printer turned on before I hooked it up to the computer - the new instructions say to hook it up and then turn it on.

I think it just wants to make sure I know I'm its bitch before it will work. Tomorrow. Fingers crossed, plz.

That is exactly what I did, then I hooked it up their way and it worked. I have hooked up many printers, and this was the first time this happened. I know it will work the first time for you. Good Luck.
