The boiler at the pool apparently suffered some kind of seizure last night and turned itself off. So the water was pretty darned chilly. The first two laps were suck-the-breath-out-of-you-FUCK-this-is-cold! And then it was great. Invigorating. Really. It made me swim faster. It was really good.

My COPD is what makes walking like yesterday so difficult. Plus, when I try to push it, like yesterday, there are after effects. For much of the afternoon, I just felt sick. It's really disheartening.

So this morning, I was more than a little motivated to get the most out of my swim. I did 3/4ths of a mile without being vertical - not stopping once. I finally did halt to get a couple of sips of water before I finished my mile. Still it took me under 50 minutes. And I feel fine. Good. So take that, COPD!

Next up for today is the router project but I can't start that until Josh, my brother's technician, is ready. So I'll just cool my heels till then.

Nothing else on the agenda really. It's supposed to be way cooler today which will be lovely.

*shiver*

I think I read somewhere that Olympic pools are set to cooler temps for training. In my PT review book I'm studying, therapeutic pools are kept at different temps.

So Olympian, good job!

Good for you! You showed your COPD who's in charge. Brr on the water, though. It's one reason why I've stopped swimming here - our pools are unheated and I'm not that motivated.

I played water polo in high school and the heater never seemed to work! It was usually 1 degree above whatever they said if it went below we didnt have to get in. It was no fun at 6am practices thats for sure!

Back when I used to swim competitively, I always went faster in a cold pool. So, I'm not surprised you'd swim faster in the cold too.
