Red Sky At Night
Nov. 6th, 2014 04:58 pmThe sky is a cross between bright pink and purple. It's amazing.
One of the TV stations just posted this photo from West Seattle this afternoon.

I got my latest crochet project to the point that I know it's going to work just like I want. I need to put the finishes on it but I'm really impressed. And it's going to be toasty here in the living room this weekend.
But, the VERY big news is that the one apartment that I can see the best across the way FINALLY raised the blinds today!! Those blinds have been down for months and months and months. I only saw them up one other time when the people first moved in.
Soon the leaves will all be gone and people turn their lights on earlier and I'll have lots of great neighbor viewing!!
I nearly missed my early dinner window! I meant to eat at 4 but forgot and didn't get the pizza cooked until 4:30 but still better than usual. And the pizza was delicious.
Oh, maggots!!! He pulled down the blinds again. Sigh.

Date: 2014-11-07 10:49 pm (UTC)I'm a snow lover. I grew up in the middle of North Carolina where snow was rare. And now I live in Seattle 2 blocks from the sea's inlet where snow is even more rare. I don't think I'll ever get enough. I lived in Minnesota for 18 months over 2 winters and that just whetted my snow appetite!

Date: 2014-11-07 10:59 pm (UTC)I see you're from Winston-Salem! I don't think I noticed that before. My ex-boyfriend's parents live there and we used to visit sometimes. They were actually just north of it, in a little town called Danbury, near Walnut Cove and Germanton. I always enjoyed the area, but there was something eerie about it at the height of winter. It was just so...dead.

Date: 2014-11-07 11:04 pm (UTC)We spent a lot of the Summers and much of the Falls in Blowing Rock (just east of Boone). You talk about beautiful Fall colors. People think New England has a lock on it but I've been to both and you just cannot beat the Blue Ridge Mountains. They nail it.

Date: 2014-11-07 11:10 pm (UTC)My boyfriend and I finally visited Blowing Rock last year, after meaning to for ages. It was the one windless day out of a hundred. It was so foggy that they gave us a severely discounted rate, since the view wasn't so great. It was still interesting, though, with a sense of being absolutely cut off from the rest of the world.
We try to take a trip in that direction every fall, to take in the colors. We're big fans of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We still haven't managed to drive the entire length of it, just bits here and pieces there, but I'd really love to someday.
