Mon, 00:42: I am metrically an idiot. It's embarrassing. I spent two days in Canada this week and I broke my brain trying to... https://t.co/AGtpmsAc9y
Mom was in elementary school when we converted to metric. Despite that, she's awful at it to the extent that she just doesn't/can't use it.
I can't get my head around how she can't get it, though. It's basically just a system in measurements of 10s; 100s; 1,000s, etc.
Because of her and all of my American friends, I'm pretty good at converting miles to kilometers; inches to centimeters; feet to meters; Celsius to Fahrenheit; and pounds to grams and kilograms. It's really the only math I can do easily without a calculator. I just kinda have it memorized.
I was going to be cheeky and say ..."You don't have a handy app for that??" ;)
I convert C to F by taking the C figure, doubling it and adding thirty ... that gives a good approximation. I guess for F to C you reverse the process. :)
