As I'm swimming this morning, I realized that I am nearly out of bacon. I use precooked bacon from Costco. NFW am I going to Costco this time of year. This is a problem.

Yesterday, I swam and then went to the grocery store and then went to the drug store and breathed easily without coughing or panting. By the time I got back in my house, I was kind of a mess but nothing that 5 minutes of sitting with water couldn't fix and it did.

This morning I had a coughing fit as I got out the door that kind of settled down as I got to the pool. I did ok swimming but got tired more quickly. I did manage to finish 150 yards short of my usual mile. Now I am home and fine.

I am grateful that my cough is not the wheezing, productive kind that sounds so horrible. I just sound like I got dust in my throat.

I slept under my blanket of hexagons last night and it was great. It would look better if it were bigger but I don't like fighting that much blanket when I sleep. It's just the right size for sleeping. I'm quite pleased to be sleeping with teddy bear bits.

I did not grow up with the stuff that most people grew up with. Mostly, I was born too early. I didn't have Sesame Street (I did have Howdy Doody and Pinkie Lee.) or Mr. Roberts or Judy Blume or Breakfast Club or Elf on a Shelf. I've tried to keep up and have a kind of Readers Digest understanding of them all. Except Elf on a Shelf. I am out of the loop on that one. But, I my life is rich nonetheless.

I don't understand why parents subject themselves to Elf on a Shelf. Moving it every night for a month, setting up different scenes? It's a bit much. I'm not really a fan of how everything's a whole month now and Christmas starts the day after Halloween.

I suppose it's a chance for some people to have a creative outlet.

Susan, if my geography is correct, you live fairly close to a Costco. Is it possible that Costco would deliver to your condo, so you could avoid the crowds and nasty traffic?

There's a solution!

Instacart will do it! $10 minimum, but same day delivery. Looks like they've got the bacon, but it $19 for a 1lb package?
