machupicchu has turned himself into downtown Seattle's photo documentarian (is that even a word? It should be). He takes great pictures of Seattle and particularly of the enchanting nooks and crannies that most people never see. But this weekend he was in our tallest building and captured my 'hood! And told me it was ok for me to grab the shot and annotate it so I did!
Here's the big version with no words - it does a lot of speaking for itself! Here's the version that tells you what's what and where's where.Very cool. Thanks,
machupicchu!

By the way, should you ever want to go and check out that view for yourself, the observation deck of the Bank of America Tower only costs $5. I always like to recommend that to visitors because comparatively few people know about it, it's more than 1.5 times the height of the Space Needle, and it's less than half the cost.

Ha! And not only that -- but 2002 had been the last year I was up the tower too! (Still not as high as you were -- I haven't been to the 75th floor restaurant since 1992, when my great aunt worked in the building and only because of that was able to get me in. Let me tell you, that was the most exciting weekend of my life to that point -- I was sixteen.) I was there in March 2002 for the Big Climb for Leukemia (http://www.flickr.com/photos/26861346@N00/sets/794921/). My friend Danielle and I actually climed the stairs to the 73rd floor. That was also the only time I ever got access to the conference rooms on floor 40.
I see that you took practically the exact same picture that I did -- but for your purposes of labeling, mine still works better than a shot with fog, so I guess it wasn't totally pointless.

Date: 2005-08-30 07:27 pm (UTC)At one time there was some semi-serious talk about building what is now Safco there. My terrace would have looked out onto home plate (if they had skipped the roof and any high walls).
But, meanwhile I have a theater of rolling shows for a front yard. Yesterday they had some kind of timed car races out there. The fun never stops.
