I watched 30 minutes each of Great Budapest Hotel and Osage County and couldn't get into either. I cleaned the kitchen. Clearly I needed something else. And then the lightbulb went off.

The game had been going for about 15 minutes. I looked outside, the road was clear of people... COSTCO! And, I have to say, it was genius. No one on the road from here to there. All the lights were green. There were open spaces in the parking lot closer in than Spokane.

The only hiccough was by the TV sets where the aisles were pretty congested with 'shoppers' who clearly were not 'shopping' by choice. The rest of the store was easily navigable. The checkout lines were not only short but the few people who were there were really nice. No line to get out the door and green lights all the way home.

Why I never thought of this before is beyond me. So glad I thought of it today.

At the risk of serious profiling here, it turns out my football dodging peops are a pretty interesting lot. 2 deaf gay couples - not together, a whole lotta really old Asian people, a fair number of Latino women with small children. An interesting lot but a very nice one. No idiot parking lot behavior, not screaming kids, no line cutter-inners. I'm kind of sorry we are running out of home games.

It is the same here. Before or after games, no. During? Totally!

Have you ever finished reading "Sometimes a Great Notion"? Would you say it's a book worth finishing? I've started it twice, but haven't finished.

«2 deaf gay couples»: \o/ Yay!

(Maybe I should explain that I am a lifelong language geek, I wrote my dissertation on American Sign Language, and I have proudly worn the label "gay-friendly" ever since one of my daughter's college housing-groupmates pinned it on me.)
